November: Reflections on Mediumship

As the wheel of the year turns November, the nights have already grown really long and dark here in the Northern hemisphere. Most people look forward to November's ending and the beginning of the festive season and Christmas joy. I too, look forward to that! But first, I embrace the quiet and mellow month of November, when the air seems to hum with remembrance and the touch of the other world is near, for those who are able to slow their pace and silence the mind.
The celebrations of Halloween (and Samhain, for those of you who follow the old Irish/Gaelic calendar), remind us that the veil between the worlds grows thin this time of the year, and our thoughts turn naturally toward those we have loved and lost.
For me, the time around Halloween always carries an opportunity to remember and reach out to my lost loved ones, both through ritual, practices and visits to their bodies final place of rest.
I have spent the past in a mediumship circle, where we learn to listen, deepen our practice and gather trust in the way spirit communicates through us. Opening the bridge between worlds is a profound experience bringing healing to all sides. In the mediumship circle we practice both one-to-one sittings and platform demonstrations, and each session brings both tears and joy when links are made between us and spirit.
At our last circle, my grandfather and my brother came through, both at the same evening, through different mediums. It is so fascinating to experience how our loved ones chooses their mediums, often someone who has the experiences or the personality which aligns with the one in spirit. These links brings so much joy, but more than that - hearing their words, recognizing their familiar humor and presence, and receiving their messages, moves me beyond what words can describe.
The first time a true spirit communication happens, we feel astonishment mixed with awe. It is a moment of real proof that love survives death. What profound healing it brings, to realize that those we thought were lost are still near, still aware, still there. Their stories, personalities, and peculiarities come through the medium’s voice like echoes from home.
This is exactly why I continue my path in mediumship, continuing to practice and learn this language of the passed souls. This work is not for the fainted-hearted. It is not for the shallow. It is not for the showman. This skill requires empathy, sensitivity, patience. For the healing it brings, the peace it restores and the love it channels, this work is worth all the effort.
In this season of darkness, fog and cold, rainy days, let us embrace that this is also the season of remembrance, contemplation and contact between worlds. May we all feel the healing in the mystery, that the soul carries on and that there is life after the passing of the physical body.

If you are not trained in mediumship or you dont have a circle to go to, you can try to reach out to your loved ones through this tarot mediumship spread.
